“The point is, this one is going to be quite dressed-up indeed,” she said of this year’s theme, “Gilded Glamour.” People are already discussing the theme on Twitter, with many questioning its sensitivity to the present political atmosphere. “Gilded splendour at a time of war, let them eat cake,” wrote influencer Bryanboy.
While we wait to see how visitors interpret the theme in trendy ways, Zendaya will be absent. The actress informed Extra that she would be unable to attend due to her forthcoming work schedule.
Fans will be able to witness the Gen Z star on the red carpet in the not-too-distant future, as multiple premieres are scheduled. Nonetheless, fashion fans will be sorely missing her at this year’s fashion prom.
The theme and exhibition for the Met Gala in 2022 are the second instalment of a tribute to the country’s heritage. The first section, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” debuted in September 2021 and is still open to the public.
