Fortnite can now be played on Apple iOS devices, as was officially announced the other day. The battle royale game has been removed from the App Store since the lawsuit between Apple and Epic Games began in August 2020. Without an Android or other device, mobile gamers were unable to play the game.
As a result of Apple’s victory in the lawsuit, it appears that the possible return date is now even further away. Some workarounds, like the NVIDIA Geforce, were devised, but none were particularly effective.
For the time being, that is, until Xbox introduces Xbox Cloud Gaming, which will include Fortnite for free. All you need is an iPhone or iOS device to download it. Here’s how to do it.
How to download Fortnite on Xbox Cloud Gaming for iOS
Players will need a Microsoft account to use this service, but it is completely free and easy to create. All you need to do is go to the website and sign up.
Players can sign up for the beta of Xbox Cloud Gaming on the xbox.com/play website. All kinds of games can be played there, including:
- Unsouled NBA 2K22.
- The Sleeping Citizen
- Dead by Daylight III Forza Horizon 4
- Dungeons and Dragons of Skyrim
- Thieves at Sea
- a slew of different Xbox Live Arcade titles.
Fortnite, which is advertised prominently in the website’s header banner, can also be downloaded from here. In a ground-breaking move, the game was recently added to the game service.
There were no free-to-play games on the service prior to this change. If the Xbox Cloud Gaming service was going to provide the game to its users, it had to be free because selling the game is not how Epic Games operates.
It’s a pity that it’s not available through the App Store. Xbox can’t make this an app because of Apple’s terms and conditions, but the majority of current iPhones and iOS devices have more than enough capability to run it through the Safari web browser.
However, there is a shortcut they can take to make it a little bit easier:
- Access Xbox Cloud Gaming at the aforementioned URL.
- The Fortnite section of the website can be accessed.
- In the middle of the bottom bar, select the settings option.
- Click “Add to Home Screen” after you’ve finished scrolling down the page.
- Return to the home screen and check to see if the “app” has been installed successfully.
