How to get the update for Overwatch 2’s Battle for Olympus mode before it comes out

Players can now use the Battle.net launcher to get to the new Overwatch 2 update that can be downloaded ahead of time. This patch, about 2.8 GB in size, was put out by Blizzard on January 3, 2023, PT.

Some players may wonder why it’s good to preload or predownload an update if you choose to download this update ahead of time. You’ll be able to join the event as soon as it starts on January 5. If you don’t, you might have to wait for the update to finish while your friends get to see the event sooner.

If you have set Battle.net or Overwatch 2 to update automatically, the preload should start and finish. You can also manually load the update before it happens.

Follow these steps to get the Battle for Olympus mode before it comes out:

    • On the Battle.net Overwatch page, click the gear icon next to the Play button.
    • Click Check for Updates next.
    • After the search is done, the early update should show up.
    • To start preloading the content, click the Update button.
    • Keep in mind that you won’t be able to see the new content until the event starts.

Overwatch 2 will have the Battle for Olympus event starting on January 5 and running until January 19. During this phase, players can play the Battle for Olympus mode and get the special rewards it offers.

So far, this is everything we know about the Battle for Olympus mode.

In the Battle for Olympus mode, seven of the game’s heroes (Junker Queen, Roadhog, Pharah, Widowmaker, Lucio, Ramattra, and Reinhardt) have new abilities that use the power of Greek gods. Battle for Olympus is a deathmatch mode, so players must focus on using their new supernatural powers to kill other players.

During the event, there will also be a global leaderboard that shows how many kills each of the above heroes gets. Overwatch 2’s beautiful Mediterranean map, Ilios, will honor the best-performing hero who gets the most kills and is at the top of the leaderboard with a statue.

The game’s current season is based on Greek mythology through its premium Battle Pass and bundles. Until the end of the current season, players can get several free and paid cosmetic items with an ancient mythology theme.

As part of Season 2, Blizzard has also promised to release three limited-time seasonal events and more Twitch drops. The first one, Winter Wonderland, started on December 13, 2022, and will end today (January 4). The Battle for Olympus will be the second event that will only last for a specific time this season. It will end on December 19, two days after the Lunar New Year holiday.

Season 2 of Overwatch 2 is expected to end in the first week of February. This will make way for the third season, several new content updates, and more time-limited events and Twitch drops.
