Gal Gadot Breaks Silence on Backlash Over Her Controversial 'Imagine' Instagram Video.

Gal Gadot recently addressed the backlash over her star-studded performance of John Lennon’s Imagine. When the cover video was published during the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, it got harsh criticism on social media for being “tone deaf.”

Two years later, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot told In Style that the issue was “funny.” She also stated that the film was done with “good intentions,” but it was “in awful taste.”

She went on to say she was surprised by the amount of negativity because the movie was “so positive.” “I never thought this movie would generate so much heat. But I don’t regret making it. It was fun to make and I’m glad so many people got to see it. And yes, we did it with good intentions. To help spread positivity during this dark time. But in awful taste. I’m sorry if that offends anyone. That was never my intention.”

    “Fixed the imagine video,”

Gadot wrote on her website, “I have a lot of respect and admiration for people who suffer from mental health challenges. I know this can be a very isolating and difficult condition to live with. It is not fair that anyone should have to endure this alone.” She continued, “I hope this video will help in some small way to raise awareness and show support for those who are suffering.”

There are lessons here for all of us. Sometimes, the things we create for our own reasons can have surprising results. And sometimes, those unexpected results can be positive.

It was widely agreed that the music in the video, while beautiful, did not match the somber message of the times we live in. Many said that a recording of some popular song should have been used instead.

But, Gadot doesn’t see a reason why the video has to be censored.”I don’t know how anyone could believe it was anything other than a celebration of free speech and creativity,” Gadot explained.”

“People are more sensitive to stuff like this than ever before. They want to censor everything. I’m a bit tired of it.” She added, “Imagine what could have been done with a different perspective or a different song. It’s a beautiful song. It’s one of my favourites.
