Havildar Rajinder Singh Negi, a resident of Ambiwala Sainik Colony in Dehradun, joined the 11 Garhwal Rifles regiment in 2002. He was posted to the snowy area of Gulmarg in November.

The incident of Missing Havildar Rajinder Singh Negi of Indian Army has left Indian soldier’s family frightened. Attempts are being made to rescue him and take him back to India safely. According to Khaleej Times, Indian Army Havildar Rajendra Singh Negi’s allegedly slipped in the snow at Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, during duty and ended up in Pakistan. The incident has left Rajinder Singh’s family in tears. Negi’s wife Rajeshwari received a call from his unit on 8th January, informing her that he is missing. It was later found that he slipped in snow, accidentally crossing the India-Pakistan border in Kashmir.

His family has requested the Indian authorities to make urgent efforts and bring him back to his homeland from Pakistan. The Army sources, as quoted by Khaleej Times, say that a rescue operation for Negi was underway and attempts were being made to bring him back.
