WHO IS MIKAELA SHIFFRIN?

Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin, an American alpinist, has two Olympic gold medals and competes on the World Cup circuit. She has won the overall World Cup title, three slalom world championships, and five World Cup discipline titles in that event over the last two years.

Born in Vail, CO  Shiffrin is the second child of Eileen (née Condron) and Jeff Shiffrin, both former ski racers.  Jeff Shiffrin grew up in New Jersey, but skied with his family in Vermont on weekends, and raced for Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.  Her mother Eileen raced in high school in the Berkshires, and her brother Taylor (born 1992) ran for DU. The Argentine composer Lalo Schifrin’s niece Mikaela.

Mikaela father, Jeff Shiffrin had a passion for music and was proficient in a variety of instruments, including the guitar, piano, trumpet, and French horn, among others. Jeff’s family consisted of his wife Eileen, their daughters Taylor and Kristina, as well as their daughter Mikaela.

He was born on March 8, 1954, in Dover, NJ, to Betty and Alan Shiffrin. Despite his busy schedule, he made time to travel and support his children’s sporting dreams. Jeff also greatly extended a UC Health regional anesthesia event. UCHSC hired him as an associate professor with cutting-edge ultrasound technology.

CAUSES OF DEATH OF JEFF SHIFRIN:

Jeff Shiffrin died of a severe brain injury. He died soon after his 65th birthday. After a long struggle, the man was brought to a hospital in Denver, where he died. Jeff died surrounded by loved ones. He died at home on Feb. 2, 2020. Mikaela has retired from playing in this year’s World Cup. He was there with his son Taylor and wife Eileen. Mikaela utilized Twitter to announce her father’s death.
