Back in Chapter 2, Epic Games added a Marvel season to Fortnite Battle Royale. All of the cosmetic goods for the fourth season’s Battle Pass were Marvel-themed, and many in-game aspects included Marvel heroes and villains.
The game developer claims that this is only the beginning of a lengthy partnership with Marvel and that players may receive a Season 5-style expansion for Chapter 2 in the future.
In October 2020, Donald Mustard, Worldwide Creative Director for Epic Games, made the following statement on the This Week in Marvel podcast:
“The fact that this is only the beginning of what will eventually become known as the Nexus War is why we are calling this season the Nexus War. This Marvel connection is only the beginning of many things we’ve been working on for years.”
Mustard brought up the official name of the Fortnite Battle Royale Marvel season, the Nexus War.
The partnership between Fortnite and Marvel has been quite successful.
It was the best idea Epic Games had in a long time to add Marvel heroes to Fortnite Battle Royale. Due to the success of these characters and the money they bring in for Epic, the studio is planning to release another Marvel-themed season in the near future.
Documents from the Epic v. Apple case suggest that the Marvel partnership was the most lucrative IP deal in Fortnite. In June 2020, more than two months before the publication of Season 4 of Chapter 2, court documents were leaked.
One has to wonder how much money Epic Games made off the Marvel Battle Pass if the Marvel cooperation was the most popular one before the season started.
In addition to the Battle Pass, Epic has also announced a plethora of Marvel-related characters and cosmetics for the game’s Item Shop. As of July 2022, the game features over 50 unique Marvel costumes and a wide variety of other cosmetic goods, such as pickaxes and back bling.
New content is being released by both Marvel and Epic Games.
Wolverine Zero, another Marvel hero, is the next skin for the Fortnite Battle Royale crew. Despite the fact that Wolverine was just launched with the Season 4 Battle Pass’s Chapter 2, the character will soon be getting a new skin.
In addition, the Zero War comic is the result of a joint effort between Marvel and Epic Games. The Zero Point plays a role in these comics, which take place in a fictional video game universe. In September 2022, at the same time as Season 4 of Chapter 3, the comic will come to a close.
Season 4 of Chapter 2 of Fortnite saw the release of an entire Marvel season, and it’s possible that the same thing will happen with Chapter 3.
Donald Mustard is a huge fan of Marvel.
Donald Mustard is a Marvel superfan and a contributor to the Zero War comic. The head of Epic Games’ creative department has discussed the potential addition of additional well-known Marvel characters. He named MODOK as one of the characters we should be aware of:
It would be difficult for me to choose just one fictional character as my all-time favorite. It will take a long time to bring them all to this planet. “MODOC is incredible.”
Mustard brought up the idea that this blending needs to be genuine. If MODOK were to be revealed, he would have to be a canonical character, and he would most likely be another villain with global conquest or Zero Point control aspirations.
Players may anticipate yet another season based around Marvel characters and events, as Epic Games has teased another massive Marvel collaboration for quite some time.
We are now less than two months away from the September 2022 release of Chapter 3, Season 4. While it would be a surprise if Epic Games decided to have another Fortnite x Marvel cooperation, there have been no credible leaks regarding it as of yet.
