Samsung has just presented its new Samsung Galaxy S22 mobiles, three devices that aim to be the company’s reference in this year 2022.
Samsung is one of the first brands to show their cards every year, in the form of Unpacked or device presentation. This year is no exception and, after months of rumors, the company has announced its new Galaxy S22 Series that we have already tested, three smartphones that are also accompanied by a new family of high-end Android tablets, the Galaxy Tas S8 Series.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 is divided into three models, one of which is the flagship, and this year it is also in charge of trying to capture all those who miss the Galaxy Note. The reason is simple: for the first time, a Galaxy S includes the standard S-Pen integrated into the body.

A similar but refined design
This year it seems that Samsung has not changed the design of the lower models much, with an aesthetic that is very reminiscent of that of the Galaxy S21, although in the case of the Ultra this is not the case.
This model is much more angular and reminiscent of the Galaxy Note, something that does not go unnoticed. It also changes from its little brothers in the hole at the bottom that is used to store the stylus. This new S-Pen has a latency of 2.8 seconds, much less than what we have seen so far, which should give us a worse experience when drawing and writing with it.
The three models have a double speaker (one of them being the headset for calls), as well as protection with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass, leaving aside the plastic as it had already been leaked.
Water-resistance is maintained with IP68 protection, a certification that all three models will have.
Premiering the Exynos 2200
Although there were some rumors that this year Samsung would not release a new processor, in the end, this has not been the case, and the three Galaxy S have the new Exynos 2200, a chipset that has been designed by AMD to be able to squeeze the most out of mobile games. . Not surprisingly, it is the first mobile processor capable of using Ray Tracing.
In some markets, such as the United States, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has been chosen.
Where there are differences in the memories, with the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus having options of 8+128 GB and 8+256 GB and the Ultra opting for 8+128, 12+256, 12+512, and 12+1024 GB, although the latter will not be available in all countries.
They all have a USB C port, although the fast charge of the S22 is limited to 25 W, while the other two models reach 45 W. The wireless charge, of 15 W, and the reversible one, of 10 W, are the same. Of course, again we see that Samsung is committed to not including a charger or headphones in the sales box.
Another difference between the models is that while the Ultra and Plus have Wi-Fi 6E, the regular S22 sticks with Wi-Fi 6.
First level screens
Samsung has come to have such a high screen quality that it is difficult to see qualitative jumps from year to year. In 2022, the biggest difference from what was seen last year is the decrease in diagonal in the S22 and S22 Plus, as each model has 0.1″ less.
The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus use a 1080px AMOLED screen of 6.1 and 6.6 inches respectively, with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, and can reach a minimum of 10 Hz.
In the case of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, we have a QHD+ AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz but with the latest generation LTPO technology, which allows a minimum rate of 1 Hz, which will benefit the battery. In addition, the maximum brightness is 1750 nits, something never seen in a smartphone.
A great novelty is Vision Booster, which allows the system to automatically change parameters such as contrast, color temperature, and other settings so that the content on the screen always appears in the best possible way for our eyes.
All three have under-panel ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ coating.
It changes the software more than the hardware in the cameras
If you look at the S22 Ultra file you can see that the camera system is not very different from that of the S21 Ultra. In front, it has a 40 Mpx sensor and behind it four cameras, two telephoto lenses (3 and 10 increases), a wide-angle, and a 108 Mpx main sensor.
Samsung boasts of having greatly improved the processing capacity of the cameras, as well as the intervention of artificial intelligence thanks to its new processor.
In the case of the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, yes, there are changes since the main sensor is 50 Mpx instead of the 12 Mpx we had before, and the zoom is now optical, with 3 increases, instead of opting for a sensor with the digital crop. A good change in this section.
Samsung especially boasts of night photography as well as video recording, although we will have to wait for the in-depth analysis to see if so much expectation is justified.
OneUI 4.1 arrives
All three devices will use Android 12 with Samsung’s new layer, One UI 4.1, which has some aesthetic changes in customization and new options for deleting elements (shadows and reflections) in its magic eraser, which we talked about a few months ago.
There are also changes to the camera interface, which in Pro mode allows RAWs to be exported directly to Lightroom for editing there.
