The picture of the lion spread on social media was not from Russia but from South Africa which was captured on April, 2016.

On Sunday morning, March 22, news spread on social media quoting ” Russia Unleashed Hundreds of Lions on the streets by the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to restrict people inside their homes amid Coronavirus.”

The picture below becoming viral on social media and people are reporting that Russia has released 500 to 800 Lions and tigers on the streets by the order of President Vladimir Putin to stop Coronavirus from spreading.

Several social media pages and users were spreading the News and sharing a couple of photos which show a lion walking on the street. Most of the captions with the picture of lion read: “In Russia, Vladimir Putin has ordered to release 800 Lions and tigers in whole Russia in order to force people to stay at home because of Coronavirus Risks.”
