Outside of St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, tribute is given to This young player as students and parents gathered to mourn the loss of 10th grader Teddy Balkind. They said :

“It’s horrible. It’s really bad,” said an 18-year-old student named Calvin. “I feel like it’s just like an outreach of, I don’t know, sympathy.”

According to report; Teddy died after a Thursday evening junior varsity hockey game between high school students from St. Luke’s and Brunswick School.

As the two private school teams playing at Brunswick’s rink in Greenwich, it’s believed Teddy fell to the ice. Another player also injured who was near him was unable to stop, and the two collided.

We woke up this morning with the heaviest hearts after hearing of the tragic loss of one of New Canaan’s own. Teddy was a wonderful young man, always smiling, a terrific teammate. No words are adequate for the grief we are all feeling. Our prayers are with Teddy and his family.
