The Web 3.0 Development in 2023

Although blockchain and cryptocurrencies are firmly rooted in the news feeds. Many readers (and those who are simply interested in this topic) often take them as something new and highly unique, literally a new direction in IT. Although, in fact, the above is a Web 3 concept. Today we will look at the specifics of development using the innovations of this system and discuss the potential future!

    What Is Web3 Development?

In general terms, this is the concept of the new Internet. It provides for the decentralization of web platforms and a high level of data encryption (based on the blockchain). The goal of Web 3 is to guarantee privacy and security to users.

Today, the concept and the architectures built on it still need to be fully integrated into the World Wide Web. Most applications, sites, and other web resources use classic Web 2.

If you are interested in the reasons for developing this concept, everything lies on the surface. For example, the “crypto boom” was due to a sharp increase in cryptocurrency prices and the possibility of their transfer. So you cannot “steal” a conditional bitcoin because it is almost impossible to hack. The same applies to transaction tracking, which has attracted close attention from governments worldwide.

Naturally, no company could afford such a level of security –  the ability to encrypt any data. True, the capabilities and benefits of Web 3 concepts and technologies are more straightforward to demonstrate than the previous version.

Web 3.0 and Web 2.0 Comparison

Comparing both versions of the Web directly is incorrect since these are two possible concepts for web app development. Therefore, we will start from the very beginning.

    Web 1.0

Web 1.0 is an outdated concept today. It was popular in the late 90s when the Internet was mainly hosted by static HTML pages, the level of interaction with which the user ended at the reading stage. Then the data warehouses were decentralized, but it took work to work with them. Technical work (such as layout) requires special software and a high level of knowledge. All work with the site was long and difficult because everything rested on undeveloped technologies and access problems.

    Web 2.0

Such torment could not last long, and in the first half of the 2000s, version 2.0 appeared. In general, today’s web platforms  work within this concept. Differs from Web 1.0 in features and interactivity. Sites have ceased to be notebooks but have turned into full-fledged platforms. It was on version 2.0 that video hosting, social networks, and other popular services appeared today.

Separately, it was with Web 2 that the boom in custom mobile app development began. Although the companies felt the fundamental need to duplicate their web platforms on gadgets only at the end of the 2010s –  the idea of transferring video hosting to “mobile rails” was not new, and it came in the second half of the 2000s.

But Web 2.0 also has its downsides. There are a few of them, but they are critical:

    • Centralization
    • Monopolization
    • Lack of privacy

Today, virtually all primary services have a complete monopoly in their environment. Platforms such as Youtube, Instagram, and Meta have full access to your personal information, and their databases are maximally centralized. Because of such shortcomings, a request has been formed in society for a combination of Web 1.0 and 2.0.

    Web 3.0

The Web3.0 concept is practically the same age as its predecessor, but development began only in the second half of the 2010s. As we said earlier, the concept received special attention along with the boom of cryptocurrencies. Its distinctive features are  decentralization, high data encryption, and confidentiality.

It should also be noted that Blockchain technology is the hallmark of Web 3.0. It enables a unique level of data protection and provides virtually complete user data protection. This technology  allows you to transfer invoices and send valuable documents without the risk of hacking or damaging files.

Between Web 2 and 3, one can consider technical and ideological resistance. But let’s look at it in more detail through the prism of benefits!

    Web 2.0 vs. Web 3.0

It is incorrect to compare the concepts directly since each case has merits and beneficial applications. We, in turn, will determine the strengths of each direction!

    Web 2.0

Web 2 remains the most popular environment for developing web platforms and mobile applications. The concept has many advantages – for example, the relative ease of development, cost-efficiency , and, in general, popularity. But it also has disadvantages that simply cannot be ignored.

The following two problems can also be attributed to the disadvantages of Web 2.0.

Its difficulties are associated with copyright. “What was in the public domain is now public property” – unfortunately, this is a reality. Today, it is not uncommon for a content author to not be its owner.

Burglary threat. Although it is challenging to hack large platforms, it is quite possible. So naturally, any hack can lead to data theft for both  companies and  users.

The concept’s strengths include the development speed and the ability to create an extensive system (for example, video hosting).

    Web 3.0

At the same time, Web 3.0 should have taken over the problems of the previous concept. However, thanks to decentralization and blockchain technologies, all platforms created on this technology are distinguished by high security and stability.

But we immediately note that using all these features is unnecessary. For example, if you want to develop your own streaming application, it doesn’t make sense to encode information or create a decentralized system.

Based on blockchain technologies, it is possible to develop a unique and well-protected application in multiple domains, including:

    • Finance
    • Social media
    • Cloud computing

It is also possible to use both versions simultaneously!

There are not many examples, but they are still there, we list them a little:

    • E-chat. A secure social network that uses blockchain for both messaging and data transfer. The feature of the platform was the possibility of exchanging cryptocurrency.
    • Sola. A unique social news network with integrated AI and blockchain. An excellent news tool that can flexibly select news for each user.
    • Brave. A browser that prevents third parties from collecting user data or serving ads or other content to the user without their permission.

But having discussed the possibilities, let’s move on to the development question!

How to Hire Web 3 Developer?

Every year Web 3 development becomes more and more popular. Today, many companies are looking for specialists who can integrate conditional blockchain algorithms into their applications and bring the quality of services (as an example) to a new level.

Unfortunately, such wishes are not common to end either in failure or simply do not bring the expected benefits. This is due to the insufficient qualifications of the developer. Therefore, we recommend following a simple plan so you can hire the right IT provider.

First, think carefully about why you need a tech service specialist. Then, you should  consider your startup business model in as much detail as possible. Since having a clear plan for the development of your idea in your hands, you will be able to ask much more subtle and revealing questions. Also, you should start communicating with a potential IT company.

Conduct interviews. Try to test the professional skills of the developer by asking questions like:

    • What programming language do you use?
    • What projects did you last work on?
    • How do you test your code?

But if the search turns out to be fruitless or you need more time to look for suitable team members, we recommend that you turn to professional companies!

A little about the cost of development. This process is influenced by the amount of work and the specifics of your relationship with the development company. So the price varies significantly depending on the geolocation of the developer. The web development team structure can have no less impact on the final price, so before concluding a deal, consider which conditions for creating your application are the best.

Often, most  Web 3 development firms have all the necessary staff and a proven portfolio. However, regarding integrating blockchain algorithms or creating a new website  / mobile application, it is better to contact expert team!
