After paramedics were called to a popular wave park in Melbourne, a guy in a severe condition was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
At 11.30 a.m. on Friday, the URBNSURF wave park in Tullamarine received a call from a member of the public needing assistance.
Ambulance spokeswoman Victoria Ambulance said the man, a man in his 40s, was believed to have had a medical episode while in the water.
He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where his condition was described as critical.
Workers at the park were “continue to provide full cooperation to the first responders and police” following the incident, according to a statement from URBNSURF.
A statement on the URBNSURF Melbourne website reads, “There has been a tragic event in which one of our surfers has been hurt, our staff has provided assistance and care for the friends on site.”
“Until further notice, the facility will be closed.
