Investigators say that Jeffrey Spaide, a 47-year-old engineer from Pennsylvania, killed his two neighbors with a gun and then shot himself to death after a fight broke out while they were shoveling snow in Plains township.
The Citizens’ Voice says that James Goy, 50, and Lisa Goy, 48, were killed during the fight right after they insulted Spaide.
The news site says the Goys were found “dead in the street” by police.

Jeffrey Spaide shooting video
Pennsylvania’s Plains Township Detectives say that James Goy, 50, and Lisa Goy, 48, fought with Jeffrey Spaide, 47, who lived across the street. According to detectives, Spaide went into his house, got a gun, and shot at the couple until the gun was empty. He then went back inside, got an AR-15-style rifle, and shot each victim twice more.
Who was Jeffrey Spaide?
Online records show that Spaide was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
His LinkedIn page says he was a “professional engineer with experience in water/wastewater projects, landfills, transfer stations, and other waste processing facilities.”
LinkedIn said he worked for the Lackawant to River Basic Sewer Authority for five years as a facilities engineer. He also worked for over 10 years as a project engineer for the Carroll Engineering Corporation and an environmental engineer manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
His job at the Department of Environmental Protection was to “serve as chief of the regional permitting section and supervise professional staff who reviewed plans, specifications, and permit applications to make sure they followed Commonwealth laws and Department of Environmental Protection rules.”
He used to work for the U.S. Navy as an engineering technician and a heavy equipment operator.
He had a master’s degree from Villanova University in water resources and environmental engineering and a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Wilkes University.
