Quay Dickens, a talented athlete and homecoming king for South Florence, was shot and died in Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning. In a tweet from the South Florence boys’ basketball team, his identification was confirmed.

A 17-year-old and a 32-year-old were also killed in Florence in separate shootings that are still being investigated. No arrests have been made. The four shootings, which occurred between Friday night and early Sunday morning, have yet to be linked by investigators. 

Standing alongside the mayor, Florence Police Chief Allen Heidler and Florence County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Brandt promised to protect anyone who comes forward with knowledge about the killings, as well as any reprisal or other violence planned.
